Eliminating Inconsistencies Across Member Materials
Inconsistent benefit details across ANOCs, EOCs, Summary of Benefits, and other materials are a common source of member confusion and compliance risk. These issues often stem from maintaining multiple copies of the same data across documents.
In this video, Al Valenti, VP, CodySoft®, explains how a single field in a PBP system can synchronize across multiple documents to eliminate drift and reduce manual edits.
How a Single Data Field Drives Cross-Document Consistency
Each PBP field is stored once in a centralized database, and downstream documents reference that data rather than maintaining separate copies. Templates use merge fields or placeholders that dynamically pull values from the same source.
When a benefit value changes due to a correction or plan update, every document that references that field updates automatically upon regeneration. This approach reduces human touchpoints, minimizes the risk of mismatches or omissions, and ensures that benefits are expressed consistently everywhere they appear. It also creates a clear audit trail with strong revision and version tracking.
Reducing Risk Through Automation and Traceability
Automation is one of the most effective tools for reducing inconsistency across member materials. By eliminating manual data entry and enforcing standardized references to centralized fields, plans significantly lower the likelihood of errors caused by copy-paste workflows or last-minute edits.
Traceability further strengthens this approach by providing visibility into where data originates and how it flows across documents. When questions arise, teams can quickly identify the source of truth and validate that updates were applied consistently, reducing both operational friction and compliance risk.
